Finn’s Irish Pub, located at 156 Main Street in Ellsworth, Maine is renowned for its unique blend of history and hospitality. The star of the show at Finn's is the bar, an original 1930’s Jerry O'Mahony dining car that belonged to a diner in Northport, Maine, before being brought to Ellsworth in 1982. The iconic Jerry O'Mahony dining cars were originally meant to be portable buildings, designed to resemble rail cars. These novel metallic structures were manufactured at the O'Mahony factory in New Jersey, then transported to permanent locations all over the country, today only a dozen or so of these originals exist today. A standout feature was its bar—a vintage 1930s Jerry O'Mahony dining car. Finn’s will celebrate our Dining Car’s 100th birthday, in just a few years. Over the years, the establishment underwent several transformations. After the dining car's installation, the restaurant was named Maidee's. Subsequent ownerships led to further modifications, culminating in 2009 when it was rebranded as Finn's Irish Public House, as it remains today. Throughout these changes, the 1930s dining car remained the pub's centerpiece, preserving a tangible link to the past. Finn's offers patrons a cozy atmosphere complemented by traditional Irish fare. The menu featured classics like shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and corned beef Reuben sandwiches. The pub also boasts an extensive array of Irish and local craft beers, wines, ciders and a full bar, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.
